On July 23rd, Lluvia Health shared early results from our Play & Thrive Playroom with doctors and nurses at the Paediatrics Department of Gbagada General Hospital. Since opening in March, the playroom has welcomed both inpatients and outpatients, offering relief to caregivers and psychosocial support for children receiving care. Our data show that children who arrive anxious often leave calmer, more expressive and willing to return, and parents now actively bring their children to the playroom during hospital visits.
The presentation, led by our psychologist Victor Ezema, also explored ways to strengthen collaboration between the paediatric team and the playroom to further improve patient experience. These early results show the potential of play-based interventions to boost service quality and child wellbeing. We’re inviting partners and supporters to join us in expanding this model so every child facing health challenges in Lagos has access to safe, therapeutic play.
