Adasa’s Story

“For at least a week or two, my food was covered… I felt rest assured that my child was having the time of his life.” — Adasa, Single Mother

For single mothers, balancing the responsibilities of parenting while trying to provide a festive holiday experience can be overwhelming. When Adasa attended the 2025 Nurture Plus Outreach, she experienced firsthand the power of a well-organised, thoughtful community event designed specifically for families like hers.

Having attended the previous year’s edition, (Bags of Joy 2024), Adasa was thrilled to see how the program had evolved. The 2025 edition which was now tagged Nurture Plus featured a play element that transformed the venue into a vibrant haven for children, featuring bouncy castles, building blocks, colouring stations, and age-specific play areas

However, the day wasn’t just a win for the kids, it was also a day for the caregivers too. In Adasa’s words, “not only did the children have fun, but the adults also had fun. They attended to the pregnant moms. They made the pregnant women have fun, play games, collected gifts. They made the single, the nursing moms, to play their own games. And then the single moms, the young moms, everyone had fun. We mingled, we danced, we did exercises. We had so much fun.”

This part of the program was introduced specifically to introduce caregivers to the power of play in bonding with their children and also in managing their own stress and emotions while caregiving. To support present kids with vital nutrients, Lluvia Health also distributed food boxes.

And to crown it all, they bless us with food, stuff like rice, palm oil, and some other basic things that every person needs for this festive season. So at least I can say that for at least a week or two weeks, my food was covered. Adasa shared gratefully.
